Gregory G. Bennett
Gregory G. Bennett is an Associate Attorney with Nath, Goldberg & Meyer (Formerly The Nath Law Group).
Drawing upon his varied experience, Mr. Bennett possesses a unique perspective and versatility in various intellectual property concerns. He works closely with domestic and foreign clients in identifying potential intellectual property rights in all disciplines, with special focus on the intersection of patents, trade dress, and copyright. He also advises on IP-wide issues related to product development, importation, and commercialization activities.
Mr. Bennett's practice also includes the following:
- Trademark Counseling, Clearance, and Enforcement : Assists clients around the globe in securing, using, exploiting, and enforcing new and existing trademarks, ensuring identity protection and brand integrity; Handles proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board; Prepares and responds to cease and desist letters and domain name disputes; Negotiates and drafts various agreements relating to licenses, assignments, settlements, and coexistence.
- Trademark and Copyright Prosecution : Performs all aspects of trademark prosecution from researching availability of proposed trademarks, drafting applications, overcoming refusals, and maintaining registered marks for substantial domestic and foreign portfolios; Counsels on infringement and validity of copyrights; Prepares and prosecutes applications for copyright registration with the United States Copyright Office.
- Patent Prosecution and Enforcement : Prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign-origin patent applications, specializing in mechanical devices and design patents; Enforcing and exploiting patent rights through infringement and cease and desist letters; Counsels clients on patent clearance, licensing, and trade secret issues.
- Anti-Counterfeiting : Implements a multifaceted approach to combat counterfeiting by securing a broad intellectual property portfolio with counterfeiting in mind at the outset; Coordinates with U.S. Customs regarding recordation of trademarks and copyrights, seizures of infringing goods, and criminal prosecutions; Develops strategies for policing domestic and foreign websites for counterfeit activities, and engages in cease-and-desist letters to both domestic and foreign infringers.
Mr. Bennett received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Ave Maria School of Law, and a Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, in Piano Performance from Towson University. While in law school, he served on the Executive Board of the Ave Maria Law Review and received various moot court awards.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Bennett was a design engineer, developing automation machinery and performance parts for race cars. He is a registered patent attorney.
Mr. Bennett is admitted to practice before the Bars of the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland and the State of New York. He is published in The Maryland Bar Journal, LexisNexis, China IP Magazine, and the BNA Patent, Trademark and Copyright Journal, among others. He is also a contributor to the AIPLA Copyright Committee, Case Summary Project.
