JOSHUA B. GOLDBERG is a Partner who manages the Chemical,
Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Department of The Nath Law Group.
Mr.
Goldberg’s practice involves portfolio management and analysis,
including the preparation, prosecution, and acquisition of U.S. and
foreign patents across a wide range of technology areas, the
preparation of patentability, freedom to operate, non-infringement,
and validity opinions, pre-litigation analysis and client
counseling, patent portfolio valuation, conducting licensing
negotiations, and the preparation
of opposition filings before the European Patent Office.
Mr.
Goldberg’s practice is primarily focused on various chemical and
biotech technologies, particularly in the pharmaceutical, delivery
system, food chemistry, heavy organic chemistry, and polymer areas.
Mr. Goldberg has extensive experience in handling matters
before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including patent
prosecution and conducting Examiner interviews, in these and other
areas. Mr. Goldberg has
also undertaken and directed a multitude of international and global
filing strategies, and is involved in maintaining intimate contact
and close relations with many associates around the world.
Mr.
Goldberg is also very active in conducting due diligence analyses,
particularly to aid in the acquisition or divestiture of technology
portfolios, and in overseeing and directing licensing negotiations.
Mr. Goldberg also regularly conducts patent clearance
analyses for the development and launch of new products.
Mr. Goldberg has published extensively,
co-authoring more than five articles covering various aspects of
intellectual property law.
Mr. Goldberg also lectures extensively before various
scientific and legal groups on all aspects of intellectual property
law.
Mr. Goldberg graduated with a J.D. degree from The George Washington
University in 1999. He was awarded a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering with a
minor in Environmental Engineering from Washington University in May
1996. While at
Washington University, Mr. Goldberg conducted research and
development in the area of drug delivery design for Particle and
Coating Technologies, Inc. Mr.
Goldberg also received a Certificate of Completion in the fields of
Molecular Biology and Immunology from Rider University in June 2005.
Mr.
Goldberg is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law
Association (AIPLA), the Chemical Practice Subcommittee of AIPLA,
the American Chemical Society (ACS), and the Chemical Society of
Washington (CSW).
Mr. Goldberg is registered to practice
before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to
practice before the Bars of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the
District of Columbia. Mr.
Goldberg is also admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals
for the Fourth Circuit, and the Superior and Inferior Courts of the
Commonwealth of Virginia.
